Learning to speak Welsh

I have found a very helpful video by a Welsh comedian called Rhod Gilbert for those who are having trouble learning Welsh, especially the mutations.

Annwyl gyfeillion,

I'm learning to speak Welsh. I was born in Wales but left as a young child as my parents travelled to England to find work. My older relatives, now gone, spoke Welsh, and the younger generation of my relatives have learned it in school. I can't really chat about Welsh life because I didn't experience it, well I can't chat about it in English but I can now have simple conversations about it in Welsh. I study online with classes based in Wales and I've recently visited Wales to stay for a week in a house with other Welsh learners so we could practice simple conversation. There was also a learner from Sweden (who didn't speak much English) and one from America staying in the house. For anyone looking for an interesting and meaningful connection with Wales then learning Welsh is a good way especially if you haven't grown up there. Starting is easy and free with apps like Duolingo and Memorise. Finding conversation practice partners in Australia is tricky but online chatting helps. I hope to hear you chatting in Welsh somewhere and I hope you won't mind if I join in.

Cofion cynnes,

Richard.
